The purpose of the role is to manage and support projects while providing technical input from an automation viewpoint.
To provide in-depth knowledge of company processes to support projects and manufacturing after startup
To specify and procure equipment and manage projects from concept through to validation
To identify areas for improvement within engineering or manufacturing
Project manage / support projects across company divisions and geographical locations as required
Provide technical support to projects, manufacturing/ operational staff in automation
Manage Vendors and vendor selection process, getting feedback from operations on performance as well as project performance
Manage, mentor and support project teams and junior engineers as required
Self directed, demonstrates initiative and leadership
Develop user requirement specifications with the end user and other technical documents to support tendering, construction and validation of equipment.
Ensure projects are completed within budget and deliver on financial objectives
Ensure project scope is defined early and managed throughout the project.
Manage the project team to ensure tasks are completed to schedule
At all times act in accordance with cGMP and company quality procedures and ensure projects are delivered to these requirements.
Perform all tasks in accordance with company safety requirements and ensure all projects are designed in a safe manner
Ensure handover of equipment and documentation to manufacturing in a complete and timely manner
Demonstrates ability to analyse information and solve problems
Good knowledge of vision systems, data collection, PLCs
Effective communication with all stakeholders on complex technical topics
Understand company metrics and business model. Clearly understands and aligns all activities to the Enterprise Excellence model
Knowledgeable of appropriate regulations, standards and GMP
Introduce new technologies or processes and is up to date with new technologies and business trends relevant to our business
Write and implement standards and guidelines for engineering and project management practices
Engineering or science degree,
Desirable with greater than 5 years’ experience or less with a relevant masters
Experience in Medical device or pharmaceutical industry is desirable
Project management qualification is expected and/ or further education in a specialist area or statistics, six sigma, PLC – AB, Siemens, B&R, SCADA/HMI vision systems – preferable Cognex.
